Indianapolis Area Adult Basketball Leauges

Updated December 4th, 2009 | No Comments »

In December 1891, James Naismith, a physical education professor and instructor at the YMCA, created an indoor game to keep his students occupied during the long New England winters.  He wrote the basic rules and nailed a peach basket onto a 10-foot high ledge.  Initially, the peach basket retained its bottom, and balls had to be retrieved manually after each “basket.”
